From a Spark to a Community- HPBC 6 Months on

When I first decided to take up a new sport last year, I could never have anticipated how quickly it would blossom into something so much bigger—a community, a movement, a welcoming space where friendships flourish, laughter echoes, and the game of pickleball brings us all together. And here we are, just six months into the Holywood Pickleball Club’s journey, and what an incredible journey it’s been.

In just half a year, we’ve gone from casual rallies to a thriving club filled with energy, laughter, and connection. Let’s take a look at what we’ve accomplished together:

• Over 100 Spond members—our broader playing community keeps growing each week!

• Over 50 official club members—who bring commitment, joy, and sportsmanship to every session.

• One mini festival—a celebration of pickleball, fun, and friendships.

• Three skills clinics—helping players of all levels develop and grow.

• One taster session—where new faces got their first feel of the paddle.

• One beginners’ course—a testament to how many people are picking up this sport and loving it.

  
  

And just as exciting, we’re proud to announce that our full club committee is now in place. These passionate individuals are helping steer the ship and shape the future of our club:

We wouldn’t be where we are today without the time, dedication, and heart poured in by our incredible volunteers, talented coaches, supportive local clubs, and of course, you—our members and participants. Whether you’ve joined for fitness, fun, or friendship, you've helped build something worth celebrating.

This club has quickly become more than just a place to play—it’s a welcoming space where the love of the game brings us all together.

What’s Ahead – The Rest of 2025

We’re only getting started! The second half of the year is shaping up to be even more exciting, with:

• More skills clinics to help you level up your game

• More recreational play sessions to meet, mix, and play in a relaxed and friendly setting

• And mark your calendars—our Annual Charity Tournament is set for 20th September 2025!(More details coming soon, but trust us—you won’t want to miss it!)
